Planning and Zoning Toolkit for Inclusive Design

Virtual

This webinar introduces the Planning and Zoning Toolkit for Inclusive Design and shows how municipalities can better integrate inclusive design principles into planning efforts, community engagement, zoning codes, as well as other local ordinances, programs and tools.

Hear from Michigan communities on what can be done locally to make a positive impact for all of your community’s residents.

The toolkit is one of several products being developed through a MSHDA grant by MAP and Disability Network Michigan.  In addition to planning and zoning strategies and case studies, participants will also learn about:

  • A Communications and Engagement Guide
  • A Design Guide providing layouts and recommendations for including accessible bathrooms and kitchens in all housing types
  • An Introduction to Inclusive Design & Residential Construction, produced by Disability Network Michigan (one CEU available for many professions)
  • A webinar (scheduled for February 25) introducing the Design Guide
  • And Next Steps Strategies

All of these products and tools, including the ZeroStep Guidelines, will be available free of charge on the websites of MAP and Disability Advocates of Kent County (a member of Disability Network Michigan).
